When Samantha was younger, she used to play basketball until she watched the Olympics and saw the High Jump and Hurdles events. She was inspired and competed in High Jumping in High School. At first it was rough, but then she improved in the event. It was very frustrating at times but I learned how to deal with it.
 
When I first attended Medgar Evers College, I was upset because I had a chance to attend other schools but I didn’t have the grades to attend those schools.
 
I wanted to quit track and field so I went back and played Basketball for a season at MEC.
 
Seeing the track team practice made me miss it. So I spoke to the Head Coach Alphonso Dance.
I love it here at Medgar Evers College. The track team made me part of their family.
 
I’ve been to the ECAC numerous times and next step is NCAA’s.
 
I always try to do my best. I love representing MEC and competing.
