(written by James Daniel Padilla, SID)
The Medgar Evers Women's Soccer team was in action Saturday night as they faced College of New Rochelle and got shut out by a score of 0-8.
The Cougars couldn't get their shots past the Blue Angels' goalkeeper because of their tough and very strong defense. The Blue Angels were able to score seven goals in the first half and one goal in the second half.
Freshman Christine Ramlall (Brooklyn, NY) and Sophomore Tasheka James (St. Elizabeth / Jamaica) both had a shot on goal in the match but was not able to execute their shot into a goal. Freshman Akiba Gumbs (St. Vincent & The Grenadines) took a shot in the match as well. Cougars as a team took two shots in the first half and one shot in the second half. Sophomore goalkeeper Renee Charles-Warren (Brooklyn/NY) played for about 76 minutes due to a knee injury and had seven saves out of eight goal attempts. Charles-Warren had four saves in the first half and three saves in the second half.Â
Medgar Evers finished the season with a 0-5-1Â CUNYAC and a 1-13-1 overall record for sixth place out of seven teams in the conference.Â
