Men's Volleyball Falls to 13-2 Against Hunter

The Medgar Evers College men's volleyball team played a home CUNYAC match against Hunter College at the Cougars Cave in Brooklyn, NY, on Thursday, March 21.

The Cougars (13-2, 4-2 CUNYAC) fell to the Hawks (13-8, 5-0) by a final score of three sets to none (25-18. 25-15, 25-9).

The first set was back-and-forth, as MEC overcame a colossal 21-10 deficit to rally and make the score 23-17. However, Hunter was able to close out the set and take a 1-0 advantage.

In the second set, the Hawks again jumped out to a large lead, this time an 18-9 advantage, but MEC was unable to mount a comeback this time around and fell 25-15. The third set wasn't pretty as MEC fell behind 15-4 and the deficit was never closer than 10 points after that.

Hunter simply turned in an outstanding performance on the offensive end, totaling 41 kills to just 11 errors on 61 attacks for a whopping .455 hitting percentage.

Nius St. Clair led the Cougars with nine kills and added three digs and an ace, while Romell Carter contributed a team-best 10 assists in addition to recording kills on both of his attacks. Jovan Scott led all players with three blocks while Sebastiann Perez led MEC with four digs.

The Cougars return to action tomorrow, when they travel to Providence, RI, to take on Johnson and Wales University and Wentworth Institute of Technology in a tri-match.
