BROOKLYN, NY - The Medgar Evers College men's volleyball team played a home CUNY Athletics Conference match against Baruch College at the Cougars Cave on Tuesday, March 3.
The Cougars (6-2, 1-2 CUNYAC) fell to the Bearcats (10-6, 3-0) in three sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-7).
The match started out very rough for Medgar, as they fell behind 15-4 in the first set. The Cougars showed their skill and valiantly rallied to make the score 18-13 and eventually 22-17. However, Baruch closed out the set.
The second set was close the entire way, and the black-and-gold pulled within two points after a 3-0 run to make the score 18-16. An
Alex Bridgelall kill made the score 23-21, with the Cougars having a chance to even the match at 1-1, but the Bearcats got the two points they needed to take the set.
In the third set, Medgar fell behind 11-1 and the match concluded in three sets. While their hitting percentage was .219 through two sets, it fell to -.364 in the third.
Bridgelall finished with 13 assists, four digs and two aces, while
Enmanuel Jaquez added six kills and five digs.Â
The Cougars return to action next Tuesday, March 10, as the team hosts John Jay College at the Cougars Cave at 7 pm in a key CUNYAC contest.
