Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer defeated by John Jay College in CUNYAC action

The Medgar Evers women's soccer team lost a CUNYAC match on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College by a score of 8-0 at Randall's Island (Field No. 75). With the loss, the Cougars slipped to 0-2 on the year (0-2 CUNYAC), while John Jay improved to 6-2-2 (2-0 CUNYAC).

John Jay notched five goals in the first half in a dominating performance. The Bloodhounds' first goal came courtesy of a Medgar Evers miscue, as the Cougars weren't able to clear the ball out of the zone, resulting in an "own goal". Later, in the 7th minute, Katie Healy netted a goal, blasting one past Medgar's Jada Barrow off the nifty cross pass by Kayla Kelly. Three minutes later, the Bloodhounds took a commanding 3-0 edge when Alexandria Nembhard notched a goal (from Leylah Murad)

In the 21st minute, the Bloodhounds increased their lead to 4-0 when Murad collected the rebound from Samantha Polk's original shot before burying the ball into the net. John Jay capped off its stellar opening session when Healy sliced a ball over to Fatou Gibba, who then headed the ball past Barrow to make it 5-0.

The Bloodhounds' three second half goals came courtesy of Ashley Goldstein at 49:50 (from Jillian Golden), Polk at 72:28, and Mirka Villarreal (from Sierra Dazhan) at 75:36.

Medgar Evers will return to action on Saturday afternoon, as the Cougars will travel to Lehman College for another CUNYAC contest. The match will be played on Lehman's South Field in the Bronx, and it'll get underway at 12:00pm.
