The Medgar Evers College Cougars swept the CUNYAC weekly cross country distinctions for the period of September 21 through September 27, as four standout performances at the Prospect Park Showdown Dual Meet on September 23 earned recognition from the conference.
On the men's side, Brandon Walker was named both the CUNYAC Runner of the Week and Rookie of the Week after capturing first place in the 4K race at the Prospect Park Showdown. Walker completed the course in 12:12.1, pacing the Cougars to a second-place finish in the three-team event.
The Cougars also received a pair of weekly honors on the women's side. Brianna Lindo was named the CUNYAC Runner of the Week after placing third in the women's 4K race. Lindo crossed the finish line in 18:50.2, securing a top-three individual finish for the Cougars.
Meanwhile, Alyssa Melville Bruce earned CUNYAC Rookie of the Week recognition following a seventh-place performance. She completed the 4K course in 27:46.6, contributing another strong individual showing for the Cougars.
The four weekly honors highlight an impressive showing by Medgar Evers at the Prospect Park Showdown and represent a clean sweep of the CUNYAC's men's and women's Runner and Rookie of the Week distinctions.
The Cougars will look to build on their performances when they return to competition this Saturday, October 3, at the Highlander XC Invitational, hosted by Cairn University in Langhorne, Pa. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
