In March of 2026, the Medgar Evers College Department of Athletics announced the hiring of Kevin Blackstock as the Head Coach of the institution’s men’s soccer program. Blackstock is extremely well-connected in the soccer community, and is especially gifted in building programs from the ground up.
 
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin as our men’s soccer coach,” Director of Athletics Chetara Murphy said. “Mr. Blackstock brings a plethora of championship experience as a coach, a player developer, and scout in numerous leagues. His accomplishments, as well as his connection to the soccer community, made him an ideal candidate for this position. Kevin not only boast an impressive resume, but he also brings a passion for the sport that is uncanny. We are very optimistic about the trajectory of our men’s soccer program now that he is aboard.”
 
Mr. Blackstock is a Championship-winning Head Coach and 2024 EDP Coach of the Year, with a global reputation for identifying, developing, and placing elite talent. He is renowned for a winning culture, having led the only New York-based team to the 2025 National League Championship Finals in Florida. He is an expert in building powerhouse programs from the ground up, including dominant tenures at Medgar Evers College Prep and within the Charter School Athletic Association. The Cougars’ new head coach possesses an unrivaled international recruitment network with a documented history of placing Brooklyn athletes into professional clubs across France, Italy, England, Germany, Portugal, and Ireland.
 
During his tenure at Medgar Evers College Preparatory School, Mr. Blackstock built a competitive program from inception, achieving a dominant record by suffering just one regular season defeat over a two year span. In addition to the student-athletes’ dominance on the field, they also thrived in the classroom as well, maintaining a top-tier athletic standard under the tutelage of Blackstock.
 
As the Head Coach of the soccer team at the Charter School Athletic Association, Blackstock paced the program to consecutive CSAA league championships, maintaining an undefeated record throughout both campaigns. His coaching accomplishments were also on display at the Progressive Youths Soccer Club in Brooklyn, NY, where the team achieved a national achievement by being the sole representative from New York at the 2025 National League Championship Finals.
 
Blackstock also enjoyed semi-professional success, overseeing a four-Time undefeated UPSL Cup Champion, managing high-level senior rosters in the process. Blackstone’s teams also captured countless EDP Premier and CGSL League Titles, and secured back-to-back League Cup Championships.
 
Blackstone has established a world-class pipeline for Brooklyn athletes into domestic and international professional divisions: In Europe, he facilitated professional trials and signings in France, England, Germany, Ireland, and the Portuguese Second Division. Blackstone has also guided numerous student-athletes to scholarships at NCAA Division I, II, and III institutions.
