Women Cougars fall to CCNY in 2010 CUNYAC/Emblem Health Women's Volleyball Quarters

New York, NY- The Women Medgar Evers College Cougars Volleyball team lost in the Quarter Finals in the 2010 CUNYAC/Emblem Health Women Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday November. 2, 2010 to CCNY Beavers. The scores were 25-10, 25-15, and 25-9 all in favor to the host Beavers. The Women Cougars finished the season at 10-15 Overall and 4-5 CUNYAC, while the Beavers improved to 20-16 Overall and 7-2 CUNYAC. The Cougars entered the Tournament as a #6 seed vs the #3 seeded Beavers.

The match was a fought hard but CCNY prevailed. The Cougars did stay close with their opponent but ever taking the lead during the match.

The Cougars in the loss were led by Senior Charita Henry, who tallied 5 kills out of 23 total attacks. She also cumulated two service aces and eight digs.Yvanna Jack followed up with 4 kills out of 11 total attacks. Jack also got credited for a dig and a blocking assist. Fransheila Ortega led her team with 10 assists, and Natina Smith with nine digs.

The Beavers were led by Dalliana Toussaint with 10 kills and Melissa Blass with 9 kills.

After the match, seniors Lennise Noralez and Charita Henry were each presented flowers, and read a heartwarming speech by the coaching staff. The 2011 MEC Women Cougars will look to improve on what they did this past season.
