Staten Island, NY- The Women's Volleyball team competed in a multimatch on Monday Oct.10, 2011. The Lady Cougars played against John Jay College and the Hunter College Hawks.

In match 1, the Lady Cougars played the John Jay Bloodhounds. This match means alot for both teams with the season in its final weeks. Both teams entered the contest winless in both conference and non league matches. The Bloodhounds dominated the match, and proved they had more will power to beat the Lady Cougars 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-18). This win from John Jay propels them to the all important 8th spot in the CUNYAC standings. With a couple of matches left in conference play MEC needs to win out in order to make the playoffs.

John Jay improves to 1-19 Overall and 1-5 CUNYAC, while the Lady Cougars dropped to 0-13 Overall and 0-5 CUNYAC. John Jay capitalized on MEC misstakes and dominated in the kills department (25-11). In the loss, the Lady Cougars were led by Janiece Hill. Hill tallied 5 kills, to go along with 6 digs. Beatrice Bonhomme and Catheline Joseph tallied 2 kills a piece. Bonhomme also cumulated a dig and a solo block. Joseph tallied 5 digs and a blocking assist. Grace Mercado led the team in assits and service aces (5 and 3). Yvanna Jack led in digs with 8. She also tallied a blocking assist. For the Bloodhounds, they were led by Kathleen Estevez, who tallied a match high 10 kills.

In match 2, the Hunter College Hawks defeated the Lady Cougars 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-10). The Hawks improved to 12-6 Overall and 6-0 CUNYAC while the Lady Cougars fell to 0-14 Overall and 0-6 CUNYAC. The Hawks dominated the match in good passes and excellent excutition resulting in points. In the loss, the Lady Cougars were led by Catheline Joseph, who tallied 4 kills to go along with a dig. Yvanna Jack tallied 2 kills, to go along a service ace, 4 digs and a solo block. In the win, Hunter was led by Jaclyn Hadfield who tallied a match high 8 kills.

The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Thursday Oct..13, 2011 when they play at the College of Old Westbury in Old Westbury, NY. Game time is 7pm.
