New Rochelle, NY- The Women's Volleyball team dropped a pair of non conference matches on Saturday Sept. 24, 2011, when they played Brooklyn College and the College of New Rochelle.
In match 1, The Bulldogs of Brooklyn College beat the Lady Cougars 3-0 (16-25, 13-25, 18-25). The Bulldogs improved to 5-5 while the Lady Cougars dropped to 0-7. The Lady Cougars fought hard but the errors led to their loss. MEC took the lead just 4 times during the match and were brief. The Lady Cougars in the loss were led by
Yvanna Jack. Jack tallied a team high 4 kills. She also cumulated 3 digs, 2 solo blocks and a blocking assist.
AnnMarie Bemberry led the team in assists with 4,
Beatrice Bonhomme and
Grace Mercado each tallied a team high a service ace, Bemberry also tallied a team high 5 digs. Bonhomme also led a team high 3 solo blocks. BC in the win, was led by Jillian Escobar with 7 kills.
In match 2, The Lady Cougars fell to the Blue Angels 3-0 (11-25, 14-25, 13-25). CNR improved to 4-3 while MEC dropped to 0-8. CNR just overpowered MEC throughout the match. The Lady Cougars tried hard but once again the errors and bad passes led to their demise in the match. In the loss, MEC was led by

Yvanna Jack and
Janiece Hill, each tallying 2 kills.
AnnMarie Bemberry led the team in assists with 1, Joseph and
Grace Mercado each tallied with a service ace, Bemberry led with 2 digs and Jack led with 2 solo blocks and a blocking assist. CNR was led by Elizabeth Johnston and Dalila Callozo Rosado each with 5 kills.
The Lady Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday Sept. 27, 2011, when they play Lehman College in a conference game at MEC. Game time is set for 7pm.
