COUGARS FALL TO BULLDOGS 75-71

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Basketball team fell to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs 75-71. The Bulldogs are a borough and conference rival. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 2-5 Overall and 1-2 CUNYAC. The Cougars dropped to 4-5 Overall and 2-2 CUNYAC.

This game could be best described as a see saw battle. The 1st half featured 5 ties and 9 for the game. The Cougars led by 4pts before Brooklyn went on a 14-9 run. In the final 4 minutes of the 1st half, Medgar Evers College cut the lead from 9pts to 1pt. Timely free throws and jumpers were the catalyst for the comeback.

In the 2nd half, the Cougars led for majority of the half. In the 1st 8 minutes, Medgar Evers College led by 7pts. Brooklyn College tied the game at 50, then led by 5pts, which spread 2 minutes. The Cougars would tie the game at 55, from a layup by Jovan Deare. The Senior opened the flood gates for the Cougars, as they spread their lead to 5pts and spread 7 minutes. Coming down to the final 2 minutes, Brooklyn College made timely shots and finished the game on an 8-4 run. 

Medgar Evers College in the loss, were led by Senior Forward Winston Douglas with 26pts and 13 rebounds. This is his 7th double double of the season. Douglas recorded 2 assists, 4 blocks, and 5 steals. Senior Guard and Captain Jovan Deare scored 19pts and grabbed 13 rebounds. For Deare, this is his 4th double double of the season. Junior Guard Kayode Prime scored 19pts and Sophomore Forward Valin Williams added 11pts.  

Brooklyn College in the win, were led by Steven Grant with 18pts. Four total Bulldogs scored in double figures.

The Cougars will be back in action on Saturday Dec. 29, 2012, when they the Berkeley College of New York Knights. The game time will be played at 6pm at Medgar Evers College.
