Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Women's Basketball Medgar Evers College fell to the Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn Bears 72-49 earlier tonight. The Bears improve to 1-2 Overall while the Cougars drop to 1-1 Overall. This was the 2013 Home Opener for the Cougars.
Saint Joseph's College led the entire game. The Cougars struggled in the shooting department in the 1st half. They only converted on 4 field goals and 5 free throws. The Cougars played a much better 2nd half, shooting 30% from the field, 25% from the 3pt. range, and 52.9% from the free throw line. Medgar Evers College committed less turnovers than the Bears (37-17) and the bench scored 27pts, compared to Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn 13.
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Sophomore
Imani Mason with a game high 21pts (9-20 FG, 1-5 3Pt. FG-FGA, and 2-3 FT-FTA). Imani grabbed 3 rebounds, added an assist, and 2 steals. Freshman
Kimonia Mullings scored 10pts and grabbed 9 rebounds. Mullings also tallied 5 steals. Freshman Guard
Ashley Desir led her team with 7 assists.
In the win, Saint Joseph's College of Brooklyn was led by Samantha Retas with 18pts. Kelly McNamee recorded 15pts and Erica Eddy added 10pts.
The Cougars will have a mini break, as they come back to play the Lehman College Lightning at Lehman College in the Bronx next Tuesday Nov. 26th. Game time is 5:00pm and this is 1st conference game in the 2013-14 season. Â
