COUGARS NO MATCH FOR CATHOLIC CARDINALS; YOUSEF NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Box Score Purchase, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Basketball Cougars fell to The Catholic University of America 91-71. The Cardinals improve to 3-1 Overall while the Cougars drop to 1-4 Overall. 

The Cougars started off the game with a jump shot from Junior Guard Khalid Yousef. The Cardinals and Cougars would trade baskets for nearly 4 minutes of the game. The Cardinals down a 1pt., made a free throw and never looked back. The Cougars would get within a 1pt, at 16:32, when Junior Forward/Center and Captain Valin Williams made a layup, making the score 9-8 Catholic University. 

The Cougars shot 43% from the field in the 1st half, and 40% in the 2nd half.

In the loss, Medgar Evers College was led by Junior Guard Khalid Yousef with 18pts (3-4 FT-FTA). Yousef was named to the All-Tournament Team. He grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, and added a steal. Sophomore Guard and Captain Pablo Segura scored 10pts (2-5 3pt. range, and 2-2 FT-FTA). The Flushing, NY native grabbed 2 rebounds, dished out a team high 4 assists, and added a steal. Junior Forward/Center and Captain Valin Williams controlled the paint, with a game high 13 rebounds.   

In the win, Catholic University was led by Steve Limberiou with 21pts. Five Cardinals scored in double digits with Jared Prince (18pts), Louis Khouri (16pts), Kyle Phanord (11pts), and Bryson Fonville adding 10pts.

The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday Nov. 26, 2013, when they travel to the Bronx, NY, and take on conference foe Lehman College Lightning. This is the 1st CUNYAC game in the 2013-14 season. Tip off will be at 7:15pm.
