Box Score Bronx, NY- The Women's Basketball team fell to the Lehman College Lightning 105-47 earlier tonight. This was the 1st CUNYAC Game for both teams. The Lightning improve to 3-1 Overall and 1-0 CUNYAC while the Cougars fall to 1-2 Overall and 0-1 CUNYAC.
Lehman led from the opening tip. The Cougars cut the lead to a bucket, but that was on the 1st Lehman score of the game. Some key nuggets taken this game, was the Cougars shot 39.29% from the field, a 13pt. increase from the 1st half, and 42.86% shooting from the free throw line.
The Cougars in the loss, were led by Sophomore Guard
Nia Tompkins with 15pts. The Queens, NY native grabbed 6 rebounds, tallying 4 assists, and 2 steals. Sophomore Guard
Imani Mason scored 11pts (3-3 FT-FTA), grabbed 7 rebounds, added an assist, and 2 steals. Freshman Forward/Center
Kimonia Mullings scored 10pts and grabbed 6 rebounds.
Lehman in the win, was led by Amely Del Rosario with 28pts. Four other Lehman student-athletes scored in double digits, with Jennifer Navarro (23pts), Genesis Liberato (21pts), Amani Lightbourne (16pts), and Shalaya Nieves (11pts).
The Cougars will be back in action this Saturday Nov. 30th, 2013, when they compete in the 2013 Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament. They will play the Yeshiva Maccabees at 8pm. Come out and support your Cougars Women's Basketball Game at The Cougars Cave.
