COUGARS FALL TO HUNTER HAWKS IN MEN'S BASKETBALL

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Men's Basketball Cougars fell to the Hunter College Hawks 83-64 earlier tonight. The Hawks improve to 5-4 Overall and 2-1 CUNYAC, while the Cougars drop to 1-8 Overall and 0-3 CUNYAC.

The first seven minutes of the game featured five ties. The Cougars were down 4-0 before they chipped at the lead. They would tie the game at 8 apiece, with 16:50 left in the 1st half. After a 3pt. shot by Junior Guard Khalid Yousef, Hunter would tie the game right back at 11 apiece. A jumper from Yousef, tied the game at 13, then Junior Forward/Center and Co-Captain Valin Williams scored on a layup, tying the game at 15. Yousef would tie the game at 17, with 13:14 left in the 1st half. Hunter would then go on a 18-0 run, spanning 4:02. The Cougars would not get the lead back.

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Junior Guard Khalid Yousef with a game high 24pts (3-4 FT-FTA). Yousef grabbed six rebounds and tallied an assist. Junior Forward/Center Valin Williams scored 15pts (3-5 FT-FTA), grabbed a game high 18 rebounds. This was his 2nd double-double of the season. Williams added an assist, a block, and two steals.

In the win, Hunter was led by Brian Kruger with 23pts. Frankie Drayton added 16pts, and Jerrell Antley scored 13pts.

The Cougars will be back in action on Friday Dec. 13, 2013, when they travel to arch rival and fellow borough College, Brooklyn College Bulldogs. The Bulldogs and Cougars will tip-off at 7:15pm.
