COUGARS FALL TO BROOKLYN IN MEN'S BASKETBALL

Box Score Brooklyn, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Basketball team fell to brough and conference rival Brooklyn College Bulldogs 88-61 earlier tonight. The win improves the Bulldogs record to 6-12 Overall and 3-7 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 2-18 Overall and 1-10 CUNYAC.

The Bulldogs led from the opening tip. The Cougars cut the lead to a bucket, once which was beginning of the game, three points, which was twice, and four, which was three times as well. This all occurred in the 1st half. Once the 2nd half started, the Bulldogs increased the lead to double digits, and held on to the victory. The lone bright spot was the Cougars shot 82.1 % from the free throw line compared to the Bulldogs 79.3% from the charity strip.

In the loss, the Cougars were led by Junior Guard Khalid Yousef with 17pts (5-5 FT-FTA). The Queens, NY native grabbed five rebounds, dished out an assist, and added a steal. Sophomore Guard and Co-Captain Pablo Segura scored 14pts (8-9 FT-FTA), grabbed four rebounds, dished out three assists, and added a steal. Junior Forward/Center and Co-Captain Valin Williams scored 12pts (6-9 FT-FTA),  and  grabbed a game high 22 rebounds (15 defensive). This is his 7th double double of the season. Valin added three blocks.

In the win, Brooklyn was led by Egzon Gjonbalaj scored a game high 27pts. Three other Bulldogs scored in double figures including: Jai Kellman (16pts), Justin Staton (11pts), and Anaselrahman Abdu adding 10pts.

The Cougars will be back in action on Monday February 3, 2014, when they travel to New York, NY and take on the John Jay College Bloodhounds. Game time is 7pm.
