Box Score Brooklyn, NY= The Women's Basketball team fell to the St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn Bears 78-45 earlier tonight. The Bears improve to 10-7 overall while the Cougars drop to 1-18.
The Bears led from the opening tip. The Cougars were withing single digits of the lead, for most of the 1st half. Medgar Evers College shot 23.7% from the field FG-FGA, 21.4% from 3pt. range, and 75% from the free throw line. The Bears shot 44% from the field, 36.4% from 3pt. range, and 61.5% from the charity stripe.
In the loss, the Cougars were led by Junior Guars
Nia Tompkins with a game high 17pts (7-30 FG-FGA and 3-12 3pt. FG-FGA). Nia grabbed 10 rebounds, which meant she earned her 1st doube double of the season. She dished out a team high five assists and added four steals. Sophomore Forward
Kimonia Mullings scored 16pts (5-19 FG-FGA and 6-8 FTA). Kimonia grabbed a game high 13 rebounds. This was her 4th double-double of the season. Sophomore Forward
Kiwelewa Mlimwengu grabbed 10 rebounds. In the win, the Bears were led by Destiny Marino with 16pts. Three other student athletes scored in double figures, including the following: Samantha Retas (14pts), Taylor Raccuglia (10pts), and Samantha Simon (10pts).
The COugars will be back in action on Friday, January. 30, 2015, when they travel to New York, NY, and play the Baruch College Bearcats. Game time is 5:30pm.
