Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Medgar Evers allowed a quick lead and never could recover as they dropped a 7-0 decision to Sarah Lawrence Thursday night at the Aviator Sports Complex.
Both
Sciancia Metelus and
Charlyn Jordan paced the Cougars (0-11) on the offensive attack by getting some nice runouts, but failed to muster a shot on goal. They also received strong defense on opposing challenges from
Claudemar Seneus and
Kadeen Waldron. In goal,
Kenia Diaz made five saves while
Kedie Pintro stopped two shots in a losing effort.
Paige Smith and Addie Rosenberg each notched two goals apiece for the Gryphons (4-8). Luana DeBorst and Nora Burrows added a goal, while Tori Davis dished off three assists in the victory.
Sarah Lawrence wasted little time getting on the board as Smith scored at 2:09 on a breakaway, then would add her second score of the game at 3:43 on a pass from Davis. The Gryphons would score two more times in the first half with a Burrows goal (9:04) and one from DeBorst (15:43). The Cougars had a good run up with Metelus at the 36th minute, but the Gryphon defense thwarted it before halftime. Rosenberg would tally two goals in the second half after being in net for the first as they sealed the win.
Medgar Evers continues their four-game home stand to close out the 2015 season with a matchup with CUNYAC opponent Brooklyn College. Start time is set for 8:00 p.m. at the Aviator Sports Complex.
