Women's Soccer Loses CUNYAC Matchup to CCNY

Box Score NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Medgar Evers women's soccer team got outscored early in the game and were dominated on the offensive end as they dropped to CUNYAC foe City College of New York, 13-0, Saturday morning at Randall's Island.

In goal, keeper Kenia Diaz (Queens, N.Y./Allentown Central) made 14 saves on the day for the Cougars (0-9) in a losing effort. No person on the Medgar Evers team was able to fire a shot on goal at all today.

Emily Ramos and Marissa Olsen each tallied a hat trick, two of nine different Beavers (1-8-1) that netted goals in the victory. Lizzette Salmeron added a goal and dished an assist, while Qiumei Zhang also compiled a score and an assist as the balanced attack proved to be too much for the Cougars

CCNY did not waste any time putting points on the board, with Olsen scoring two of her three goals (4:22 & 6:22) in the first six and a half minutes of the first half. Six seconds later, Ramos would take a Zhang pass and beat the keeper. Zheng would then add a score at 14:15. Ramos would tally two more goals in the second, as the Beavers ripped off nine first-half goals to all but put the game out of reach.

The Cougars will travel upstate to Purchas to take on Manhattanville College Tuesday afternoon. Start time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
