Women's Basketball Loses CUNYAC Matchup to Lehman, 62-48

Box Score BRONX, N.Y. – Despite owning a significant edge on the rebounding front, the Medgar Evers women's basketball team dropped a CUNYAC decision to Lehman College, 62-48, Friday night at the APEX Main Gym.
 
Junior Danyelle Foster (Brooklyn, N.Y./Newtown) posted her seventh double-double in eight games this season in a losing effort for the Lady Cougars (0-8, 0-2 CUNYAC), netting a season-high 25 points and grabbing 23 rebounds. Kimonia Mullings (Queens, N.Y./Flushing) corralled a game-best 24 boards to go with eight points, while Nia Tompkins (Queens, N.Y./The Young Women's Leadership Academy) chipped in with seven points, including two three-pointers, along with four rebounds.
 
Jennifer Navarro led the way with 24 points to go with six steals and five rebounds for the Lightning (4-3, 2-0 CUNYAC). Amani Lightborne notched a double-double (15 points, 17 rebounds) with six steals, and Amely Del Rosario dished out six assists and poured in 13 points in the victory.
 
The Lady Cougars lost the game even though they owned the advantage on the glass. They won the rebounding edge, 68-48, including 25 offensive boards. The team also held Lehman to 27.0% shooting from the field the entire game. Medgar Evers fell due to them shooting 21.9%, including just 6-for-32 in the second half. They made too many mistakes as well, giving away 35 turnovers.
 
Up next for the team is their second straight conference battle when they face Brooklyn College on the road Monday night as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
