BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The Men's Basketball team fell to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs 77-63 earlier tonight. The Bulldogs improve to 19-5, 11-4 CUNYAC while the Cougars drop to 3-21, 2-13 CUNYAC.
The Cougars led for most of the first half. The half featured five ties, and Brooklyn led twice, very briefly. The laregest lead for Medgar Evers College was 10 points, which was 41-31, going into the half. In the 2nd half, the Cougars led for the first seven minutes. Brooklyn College was chipping at the lead, until the pendulum turned in their favor. With the score 49-48 Cougars, Brooklyns' Egzon Gjonbalaj made a layup, giving the Bulldogs a 50-49 lead. They would go on a 8-0 run, and take full control of the game. The Cougars did tie the game three times (56, 58, and 60 all), but captalize on the momentum.
Medgar Evers College shot 40.9% from the field, 33.3% from 3pt. range, and 50% from the charity stripe while Brooklyn College shot 48.3% from the field, 29.2% from 3pt. range, and 66.7% from the free throw line. In the loss, the Cougars were led by junior guard
Kyle Sierra with 22 points (7-14 FG-FGA, 5-10 3pt. range, and 3-4 FT-FTA). Kyle grabbed five rebounds and dished out five assists. Freshman forward
Aker-Mark Bayley-Hay scored 16 points (8-11 FG-FGA). Aker-Mark grabbed nine rebounds, swiped away two shots and added a steal. Junior forward
Zavier Coston added 14 points. Brooklyn College was led by Egzon Gjonbalaj with 24 points.
The Cougars will be back in action on Tuesday, February. 17, 2015, when they travel to Manhattan, and take on the City College of New York Beavers. Game time will be 7:00 p.m.   Â
