Women's Soccer Drops CUNYAC Matchup with CSI

Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y – The Medgar Evers women's soccer team were overwhelmed by an offensive eruption as they were defeated by CUNYAC foe the College of Staten Island, 14-0, Wednesday night at the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn.
 
Marlene Thompson (Linden, Guyana/Edward R. Murrow) stopped eight shots on 22 on goal in a losing effort for the Cougars (0-6). Medgar Evers failed to muster a shot on goal throughout the entire game, with one shot fired total all game.
 
Danielle Alexandrini led the Dolphins (5-1) by notching a hat trick to go along with one assist, while Jessica Quiroz tallied three goals in the victory. Jennifer Consenza dished out four assists and a goal, while Stephanie Rivera and Danielle Smith added two goals apiece.
 
In the first half, CSI began their dominance on the offensive end with five goals within a ten-minute span. The Dolphins used their speed to push past the Cougars and create odd-man rushes, which led to their multiple scores. They would add three more in the frame to go up 8-0 at halftime. Following intermission, the Dolphins continued to pour it on with six goals in the first 15 minutes of the half as they closed out their fifth win of the season.
 
Medgar Evers will come back tomorrow night with a matchup on the road against Maritime University.  Start time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Reinhart Field in Throggs Neck. Live stats will be available on Maritime's website.
