Box Score BRONX, N.Y. – The Medgar Evers women's soccer team fell behind early and could not come back in time as they dropped a 10-0 decision to CUNYAC opponent Lehman College Wednesday night at Lehman South Field in the Bronx.
The Cougars (0-8) were paced by keeper
Kenia Diaz (Queens, N.Y./Allentown Central), who stopped seven shots in net despite a losing effort.
Subuola Ojerinola (Ibadan, Nigeria/Pisilb de Varsity) and
Sciancia Metelus (Petionville, Haiti/Edward R. Murrow) both let off shots in the game, but could not break through with a goal.
A balanced attack on offense helped give the Lightning (8-1) the victory. Lillian Barreto scored two goals and three assists, while Juliana Generoso and Daisy Gomez also added two goals each.
The first half saw Lehman strike with a quick goal at 5:31 when Generoso put in a rebound for a 1-0 lead. That was the first of eight first-half goals, including a stretch where the Lightning netted four goals in seven minutes of play. Generoso added another goal in the half, while Berreto scored two goals in a span of three minutes as they pushed the lead to 8-0 at intermission. Lehman would tack on two more early in the second half to close out the win.
The next matchup for the Cougars will be against CUNYAC opponent the City College of New York on October 3rd. Start time is set for 9:30 a.m. at Randall's Island Field #70. Â
