Box Score Women's Basketball Falls 66-61 to Cedar Crest in Home Opener
 
(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – The Medgar Evers women's basketball team hosted the Falcons of Cedar Crest College for their first home game of the season. It was an even first quarter as Medgar Evers had a close 17-15 lead and then Cedar Crest responded with an impressive second quarter to take the lead going into halftime. It was a balanced attack in the first half for Medgar Evers with no player scoring more than five points.
 
            The two leaders for Medgar Evers led the comeback in the second half but fell short in the last minute. Senior guard Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Janaisha Carrington (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored clutch baskets down the final stretch of this game. They gave up the lead on two late threes from Cedar Crest's Tenille Stewart and two turnovers in the final 30 seconds would prove to be the difference. Cedar Crest defeated Medgar Evers by a final score of 66-61.  
 
Dieudonne scored 12 points while also grabbing 12 rebounds. Carrington scored 12 points (10 in the second half) while grabbing eight rebounds and senior forward Kimonia Mullings (Queens, N.Y.) grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds while also scoring nine points and two blocks.
 
With the loss Medgar Evers falls to 0-3 on the season while Cedar Crest improves to 2-0. The women's basketball team is back in action Saturday, November 26^th when they host the Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament. Medgar Evers will open up play against the College of New Rochelle at 6 p.m.
