Box Score Women's Basketball Loses 72-31 to Manhattanville in Consolation Round of Betty Shabazz Tournament
(BROOKLYN, N.Y.) – Medgar Evers women's basketball hosted Manhattanville College in the consolation round of the Betty Shabazz Tournament on Sunday afternoon. Medgar Evers could not find any rhythm offensively nor were they able to slow down Manhattanville and their balanced attack. Going into halftime Medgar Evers only trailed by 16 even though they turned the ball over 13 times. Once they began the second half Manhattanville's speed and depth caused too many problems for Medgar. Medgar Evers would eventually lose by a final of 72-31.
Senior guard
Elesha Dieudonne's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) double-double streak was snapped today but she still managed to record a respectable 16 points, eight rebounds and two steals on the day. Dieudonne was named to the Betty Shabazz All-Tournament Team averaging 21 points and 12 rebounds in the two games. The next highest scorer for the Lady Cougars was senior guard
Ashley Desir (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who had nine points and four assists.
Manhattanville had a very balanced attack, led by
Ivy Coles, who scored 11 points. With the loss Medgar Evers remains winless at 0-5 while Manhattanville improves to 3-2. The women's basketball team is back in action Friday, December 2
