Box Score Women's Basketball Pummeled 97-51 by Defending Champ Lehman
(BRONX, N.Y.) – Medgar Evers women's basketball visited the Lightning of Lehman College in a CUNYAC matchup on Friday night. The Lady Cougars did not get too many shots to fall on the night as they were destroyed by Lehman 97-51. With the loss, Medgar Evers falls to 1-22 (1-13 CUNYAC) while Lehman improves to 14-8 (12-2) on the year.
Medgar Evers did not get off to a good start allowing Lehman to get out to an early lead. The Lady Cougars made just four shots in the first quarter while turning the ball over 11 times giving Lehman a nice 14 point lead. As a team in the first half Medgar Evers did not shoot the ball well at all going 10-33 (31%). They also had problems hanging on to the ball as they turned the ball over 19 times.
In the second half Lehman eased up on the gas pedal but still extended their lead to as many 53 points. Lehman connected on 12 threes including seven in the second half. Medgar Evers could not keep up with the Lightning's hot shooting.
Medgar Evers was led by their senior duo of
Elesha Dieudonne (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and
Kimonia Mullings (Queens, N.Y.) who both recorded a double-double on the night. Dieudonne scored a team-high 23 points and 12 rebounds, making that her 17
th double-double of the year which leads the conference. Mullings recorded 10 points to go along with 11 rebounds.
Lehman was led by
Amely Del Rosario who scored a game-high 29 points. The Lady Cougars look to bounce back when they return to action Friday, February 10
th when they host Baruch for senior night in a CUNYAC matchup beginning at 6 p.m.
