The Medgar Evers College men's basketball team opened their 2018-19 season by playing an exhibition game on the road against a St. Francis College - Brooklyn on Monday, November 7, at the Pope Physical Fitness Center in Brooklyn, NY.
The Cougars fell to the Terriers by a final score of 92-42.
Senior
Justin Sutton led MEC in scoring with 10 points, while sophomore
Basheeru Camara added seven. Camara, junior
Travis James and freshman
Mousa Sinera each grabbed a team-high four rebounds.
Another highlight was the play of freshman
Chad Marcus, who recorded a memorable six points in just four minutes of play. The Medgar Evers Prep alum wowed the crowd with a nifty crossover move, drawing a foul and sinking both free throws. After hitting a jumper from the free-throw line, the 5-foot-9 guard nailed a layup over two much larger St. Francis players after again beating his defender off the dribble.
The Cougars return to action on Friday, November 9, when they take on Maine Maritime College at the Cougar Cave beginning at 7:00 pm. That contest will mark the start of the 2018-19 regular season for Medgar Evers men's basketball.
