The Medgar Evers College women's soccer team continued their 2019 season with the start of CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play.
On Wednesday, September 18, the Cougars hosted local rivals St. Joseph's - Brooklyn at Kingsborough Community College.
Destiny Simmons recorded a shot and
Jody-Ann Blanchard recorded a whopping 24 saves against the Bears.
Against former CUNYAC foes College of Staten Island on Saturday, September 21, Blanchard again had a stellar evening with 17 saves while the Cougars held the Dolphins to no goals in the second half. This was a completely clean match, with neither team recording a foul throughout the entire contest.
Their CUNYAC opener was on Wednesday, September 25, against Bedford Avenue neighbors Brooklyn College.
Dana Barbara Jecrois recorded a shot for Medgar while Blanchard and
Sandra Yankson recorded 11 and three saves, respectively.
Hosting the University of Valley Forge on Saturday, September 28, at Floyd Bennett Field, Blanchard recorded 21 saves in another tough loss. The team then traveled to Lehman College on Monday, September 30, for another conference match. Blanchard recorded 11 saves and the team created a chance from a corner kick.
The Cougars next host CCNY in a CUNYAC match at Aviator Field. The match will take place on Wednesday, October 2, at 7:30 pm.
