Men's Soccer Wraps Up 2019 Season

BROOKLYN, NY - The Medgar Evers College men's soccer team concluded their 2019 season with a pair of CUNY Athletic Conference matchups against Hunter College and Lehman College.

On Saturday, October 19, the Cougars traveled to Randall's Island Field 10 to take on the Hawks. It was a hard-fought contest, with each team recieving two yellow cards. Despite recording five shots, including three on target, and winning three corner kicks, the Cougars were unable to find the back of the net.

Stanley Saint Eloi made his first career start in goal and recorded three saves, while Abdul Conteh, Abdul Edwards, and Darrell Ambersley each recorded one shot on target in the 5-0 defeat.

Wednesday, October 23 was the date of Medgar's season finale against Lehman, which took place at Kingsborough Community College. It was the final collegiate game for seniors Jordan Coke, Conteh, Ambersley, Skyvinsky Fils, Ivan Vasojevic, and Papa Samb. Coke was out injured and Ambersley was unavailable, while the other seniors all played the entire match.

Lehman jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead within 24 minutes as the Lightning aggressively hounded the Medgar defense. After that, the Cougars bunkered down and remained solid for the rest of the match.

Abdul Edwards finished the match with a game-high three shots on target and scored a penalty kick in the 64th minute. Edwards finished the season as the team's top scorer with three goals, and also contributed a team-best 19 shots throughout the season.

Carl-Henry Obeissant and James Hyacinthe each recorded three saves for Medgar.
