SALEM, MASS. - The Medgar Evers College women's basketball team faced Salem State University in a road nonconference game on Sunday, December 29.
The Cougars fell to the Vikings by a final score of 78-30.
The first quarter was a close battle between the teams, with
Cyndi Whyte leading the way with seven points and the defense holding the Vikings to just 4-20 shooting. Entering the second quarter the score was 15-11 Salem.
The second quarter was rough as the Cougars struggled to hit shots, while the Vikings found their shooting stroke, and their lead at halftime had ballooned to 28 points, a lead which they held the rest of the game.
Whyte finished with a team-best 17 points and added seven rebounds, two steals, and a block, while
Semina Radoncic finished with a commanding five blocks.
Onella Ireland contributed 10 rebounds as well.
The Cougars return to action in the New Year on Saturday, January 4, when the team hosts Lehman College in a 1 pm CUNYAC game at the Cougars Cave.
