BROOKLYN, NY - The Medgar Evers College men's basketball team hosted John Jay College for a CUNY Athletic Conference game at the Cougars Cave on Friday, January 10.
The Cougars (4-11, 1-4 CUNYAC) fell to the Bloodhounds (9-4, 3-1) by a final score of 88-77.
John Jay took an early 7-point lead, but the Cougars stormed back with a 16-6 run to take a 26-23 lead after an
Elias Scott three-pointer. The teams traded the lead but the Bloodhounds seized control before halftime, with their lead stretching to nine points, and at halftime the black-and-gold trailed 43-36.
John Jay held their lead into the second half, and after a fastbreak dunk the visitors took a 64-12 lead with a little over 12 minutes left. The Cougars slowly chipped away at the lead, and with about two minutes left, Scott sunk another three to make the score 77-75.
However, the Bloodhounds scored the next 11 points and held on for the victory.
Devin Berrios led Medgar with 19 points, Scott chipped in with 15 points and 3 assists, and
Keison McIntosh contributed 13 points and four steals. CUNYAC rebounding leader
Mousa Sinera added 17 rebounds in addition to his eight points.Â
The Cougars return to action this Friday, January 17, for a road CUNYAC game at York College at 7:30.
