BRONXVILLE, NY - The Medgar Evers College men's volleyball team took on Sarah Lawrence College in a road nonconference match on Saturday, February 1.

The Cougars (2-0) defeated the Gryphons (0-6) in straight sets (25-8, 25-13, 25-17).

The black-and-gold recorded an impressive .296 hitting percentage throughout the match, while allowing Sarah Lawrence to hit only -.286.

The first set was tied 5-5 when the Cougars went on a 7-0 run, which ballooned into a 20-3 run to close the set. The Cougars dominated the second set and jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the third set, and were never really threatened throughout the match.

Enmanuel Jaquez totaled 13 kills, 6 aces, and nine digs and hit an impressive .476, while Alex Bridgelall contributed 28 assists, five aces, and three kills himself.

Sebastiann Perez also chipped in with seven kills, four aces, and four digs.

The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, February 4, for a road contest at Purchase College at 7 pm.
