The Medgar Evers men's soccer team dropped a pair of contests to CUNYAC foes in recent days, losing 4-2 to the City College of New York Beavers on Saturday afternoon (conference match) before suffering 3-1 non-conference defeat to the Cardinals of York College. The matches took place at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY.

In Medgar's loss on Saturday afternoon, CCNY's Ishmael Quansah netted the lone goal of the opening 45 minutes, burying a ball off a nice pass from John Yauri. The Beavers later tacked on three consecutive goals in the second half to increase their commanding advantage to 4-0. Moustapha Salane (from Yauri), Yusef Abdelmegid (from Salane), and Vincent Moreno (from Abdelmegid) accounted for those aforementioned tallies.

Medgar Evers wouldn't go quietly, though. Defender Daniel Hacket converted a penalty kick, and Isaac Akindipe headed a ball into the net off a gorgeous pass from Jean Horacius. That cut the Cougars deficit in half at 4-2, but Medgar was unable to must any additional offense after that, eventually dropping the CUNYAC match by two.

In Monday's defeat to the Cardinals, York broke through for the opening tally of the match in the 30th minute as Abdul Bassa rocketed home a nifty pass from Antonio Josephs in the box to give the Cardinals a 1-0 edge. York College outshot Medgar Evers by seven shots (11-4) in the opening stanza.

In the 59th minute, Nilson Henriquez connected with Kervin Mondesir to increase York's advantage to 2-0. After Medgar Evers sliced its deficit in half in the 70th minute on a goal by Salim Soumare, York finalized the scoring when Kirk Gardner (from Mondesir) found the back of the net with nine seconds remaining to solidify the victory for his squad.

Medgar Evers goalkeeper Carl-Henry Obeissant registered five saves despite the defeat. Cardinals netminder Ahmed Elgendy stopped two shots while allowing just the one tally.

York College led all categories, out-shooting Medgar Evers 27-7, putting eight shots on net to the Cougars three, and earning two corner kick opportunities to Medgar Evers' one.

The Cougars will look to add another game to their schedule in the coming days to close out their 2021 campaign.
