Women's soccer defeated by CCNY 8-0 Saturday afternoon in CUNYAC action

The Medgar Evers women's soccer team suffered a CUNYAC defeat on Saturday afternoon, dropping an 8-0 decision to the Beavers of the City College of New York. The clash took place at the No. 10 field at Randall's Island. With the defeat, the Cougars slipped to 0-4 on the 2023 campaign (0-3 CUNYAC), while the hosts improved to 7-5, staying unblemished in CUNY action in the process (4-0).

Pacing CCNY on the afternoon was Laura Villatoro, as she collected a pair of goals while also tacking on an assist. Teammate Charlotte Foberg also found the net twice, while also earning a pair of helpers as well.

Also contributing for the Beavers was MacKenzie Moreno, as she finished with a goal and an assist, and Cynthia Neira Cordero, Maria Chartzoulakisa, and Samantha Bernal each recorded a goal apiece for CCNY.

Between the pipes, CCNY netminder Laila Issa earned the shutout behind a tremendous Beavers defense, which didn't allow a shot. Medgar Evers' Shantee Goggins put forth a valiant effort in net despite taking the loss, as she piled a match-high 14 saves.

The Cougars will return to the pitch on Tuesday evening, as Medgar Evers is back on the No. 10 field at Randall's Island for a match against non-conference borough foe Pratt Institute. Start-time is scheduled for 8:00pm.
