Women's soccer downed by Bloodhounds in CUNYAC match at Randall's Island

The Medgar Evers College women's soccer team dropped a CUNYAC match on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College by a score of 10-0. The conference contest took place at the No. 70 field at Randall's Island. With the loss, the Cougars slipped a mark of 0-6 (0-3 CUNYAC), while the Bloodhounds improved to 5-5-1 (2-0 CUNYAC).

John Jay College used a balanced effort to pick up the victory over Medgar Evers College, with ten different Bloodhounds finding the back of the net. All of the host's goals came in the opening 45 minutes of action, a period in which the Bloodhounds out-shot the Cougars by a count of 25-2.

The Bloodhounds got the scoring underway in the fourth minute (3:32) when Jerlyn Castillo netted an unassisted goal. 2:08 later, at 5:40, John Jay increased its advantage to 2-0 when Olivia Boucher redirected Lucia Giangaspero's pass into the net. Shortly thereafter, Giangaspero assisted on a goal, this time slicing a pass over to Surya Nero who buried the ball into the net to take it 3-0. John Jay's next two goals came courtesy of Daniela Vazquez (9:44, from Nero and Emma Fisher) and Alexandria Nembhard (14:50, from Boucher), as the Bloodhounds led 5-0 inside the opening 15 minutes.

Giangaspero, with two assists already on the stat sheet, netted John Jay's sixth goal of the afternoon (18:28, unassisted), and Sophia Arias scored the host's seventh tally at 21:02 (from Ellarose Bianca). Bianca, after picking up the helper, netted the Bloodhounds' eighth goal at 22:21 (from Nero), and John Jay's final two goals came courtesy of Zoe Specht (27:00, unassisted), and Lillith Eaton (35:49, from Bianca and Anna Wher).

Gianna Duarte picked up the shutout victory for the Bloodhounds. Liya Workennah played 45 minutes and took the loss in net, making four saves despite doing so. Seeta Tomby played the second half and didn't yield a goal, as John Jay failed to register a shot in the second half.
For the match, John Jay out-shot Medgar Evers 25-4.

The Cougars will return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon, as Medgar Evers will host Brooklyn College at York College's Outdoor Athletic Complex in Jamaica, NY. Start-time is scheduled for 12:00pm.
