The Medgar Evers College women's soccer team dropped a CUNYAC match on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Lightning of Lehman College by a score of 9-1. The match took place at Calvert Vaux Park in Coney Island (Brooklyn, NY). With the defeat, the Cougars dipped to 0-7 on the 2024 campaign, while the Lightning improved to 10-3.

Lehman's Emily Huerta dominated the match in the early stages, scoring a pair of goals within the opening 10 minutes of action (6:34, unassisted, and 9:41, from Claudia Diaz) to make it 2-0 in favor of the Lightning. Huerta completed the hat trick at 17:00, slashing home a pass from Hailey Suquilanda to make it 3-0 Lehman.

Later in the stanza, the Lightning's Esmeralda Santos Valencia added a pair of goals of her own (21:32 and 23:43), with Roselyn Vasquez Max picking up an assist on the first of those two aforementioned scores. Maria Martinez netted the visitors' sixth goal at 25:25 (from Stephanie Roldan), and Lehman capped its first half scoring at 34:29 when Natalie Kola found the back of the net off a Martinez pass. After 45 minutes of action, the Lightning held a 7-0 edge.

In the second half, Lehman added two more tallies, courtesy of Katelyn Rice (59:21, from Emily Huerta, and 60:29, from Kola). Medgar Evers was able to get on the scoreboard prior to the end of the match, as at 67:48, Danajah Lawrence collected a throw-in pass before blasting the ball high and over the head of Lehman reserve netminder Ashley Gomez.

Lehman held a 23-5 edge in shots. Starting Lightning goalkeeper Katelyn Rice played the opening half and picked up the win in net, making one save. Fatou Karamoko made seven saves in a losing effort for the Cougars.
