Women's soccer team defeated by Lehman College in CUNYAC action

The Medgar Evers women's soccer team resumed its season on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Lightning of Lehman College in CUNYAC action by a score of 9-0. The match took place at Lehman College's South Field in the Bronx, NY. With the loss, the Cougars dipped to 0-2 on the 2024 campaign (0-1 CUNYAC), while the Lightning improved to 4-2 (1-0 CUNYAC).

All of the scoring came in the opening half, with three Lightning players scoring multiple goals. Emily Huerta and Lory Castro tied for the match-high of three goals. Huerta also added a match-high four assists, with Castro registering two. Barbara Meda added two goals, with Natalie Kola adding one. Maria Martinez finished the day with three assists.

Medgar Evers goaltender Fatou Karamoko took the loss between the pipes, however, she did register four saves. Lehman's Nayalee Morales and Katelyn Rice split time in net for the hosts.

The Cougars will return to action on Tuesday afternoon, as Medgar Evers will travel to Dix Hills, NY to take on Five Towns College in a non-conference match. Start-time is scheduled for 4:00pm.
