Bloodhounds' offensive attack too much for Cougars as Medgar Evers drops 2025 season finale

The Medgar Evers College men's soccer team finalized its 2025 campaign on Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Bloodhounds of John Jay College by a score of 8-0. The match took place at Randall's Island (Field No. 74) in New York, NY. With that result, the Bloodhounds finished the regular season with a 5-10-1 overall record (4-2-1 CUNYAC), while the Cougars wrapped up at 1-13-1 (0-7 CUNYAC).

John Jay's offensive hit on all cylinders from the opening whistle. Two minutes into the match, Sekou Sheriff netted a goal, slotting in a shot from 30 yards out to give the Bloodhounds a 1-0 advantage. Three minutes later, Joshua Henao-Moreno netted the first of his three goals on the afternoon. Metz slipped a pass over to Sheriff, and Henao-Moreno deposited the ball into the right side of the net to boost the host's advantage to a pair, 2-0.

The Bloodhounds continued to demonstrate their dominant offensive attack in the 27th minute, when Eden Chaftzadi netted a goal, courtesy of assists from Ian Hartigan and Aaron Cedillo

A minute later, Hartigan put a ball past the Medgar goalkeeper Clirian Nunez as the Bloodhounds snatched a 4-0 edge. Henao-Moreno added two more scores in the 33' and 43' minutes to complete the hat-trick in the first half, giving John Jay a commanding 6-0 lead.

In the second half, John Gahaunacela netted a goal, finishing the chance by the net after nifty passes from Kristian Hernandez and Karl Menuau. The Bloodhounds wrapped-up the scoring on the afternoon with Hartigan scored in the final seconds (from Josh Clemas) to make it 8-0 John Jay.

John Jay out-shot Medgar Evers 31-4 on the day.

In goal, Nunez took the loss for Medgar Evers, as he allowed seven goals while making 11 saves. Artem Khapugin got the victory between the pipes for the hosts, as he played 45 minutes and didn't allow a goal while making two saves.
