Men's volleyball team opens 2025 campaign with pair of CUNYAC losses at Baruch

The Medgar Evers College men's volleyball team opened up its 2025 season this past Tuesday evening, dropping a pair of CUNYAC match at Baruch College by scores of 3-25, 7-25, and 7-25 in match one, and 9-25, 6-25, and 3-5 in the nightcap. The conference clashes took place at the ARC Arena in New York, NY. While the contests served as the season-openers for the Cougars (0-2 overall, 0-2 CUNYAC), the Bearcats improved to 3-5 (2-0 CUNYAC) with the triumphs.

In the opening match of the evening, newcomer Chris Edosomwan registered a kill for the Cougars in his debut for the squad.

Baruch was paced by Kory Lingenfelter and Noah Pak in the match one victory, as they tallied eight and seven kills, respectively. Ryan Oommen compiled a match-high 29 assists, while Aaron Clark's seven aces were a team-high. The Bearcats used a .744 hitting percentage to record the dominant victory.

Medgar Evers senior Kayshaun Higgs registered two kills and a dig for the Cougars in the team's loss in the nightcap.

The Bearcats were led by Ari Osmanaj and Kairos Liang in the match two victory, as they tallied six and five kills, respectively. Haoxin Hu registered a match-high 28 service aces, while Valentin Rodriguez's 20 assists led all players. The Bearcats used a .724 hitting percentage to record the convincing triumph.

The Cougars will return to action on Sunday afternoon, as Medgar Evers will travel to the Max Stern Athletic Center on the campus of Yeshiva University to battle the Maccabees in non-conference action. Start-time is scheduled for 1:00pm.
