Men's volleyball defeated in home opener by CUNYAC foe Lehman College in straight sets

The Medgar Evers College men's volleyball team dropped its home opener on Thursday evening, falling to the Lightning of Lehman College by scores of 6-25, 5-25, and 6-25. The contest took place at the Cougars Cave in Brooklyn, NY. With the defeat, the Cougars dipped to 0-5 on the 2024-2025 campaign (0-3 CUNYAC), while the Lightning improved to 7-1 (1-1 CUNYAC).

Despite the loss for the Cougars, Kayshaun Higgs and Nkosi Fraser registered a kill apiece, with Chris Edosomwan registering a match-best six digs.

Lehman College was paced by Emmanuel Cochran, as he tallied a match-high seven kills to go along with three service aces. Abdoylaye Kante added six kills and a pair of digs, and Ray Rodriguez finalized his evening with five kills, a match-high nine service aces, and three digs. Christian Agudo put forth a tremendous all-around effort, recording four kills, collecting service aces, and adding six assists, and John Zerada's eight assists led all players.

For the match, Lehman College tallied 29 service aces and earned a hitting percentage of .574 (32-5-47).

Medgar Evers will return to action on Tuesday evening, as the Cougars will travel to the Pratt ARC to battle the Pratt Institute Cannoneers. Start-time for that contest is set for 7:00pm.
