Men's volleyball defeated by Pratt Institute in straight sets in non-conference borough battle

The Medgar Evers College men's volleyball team dropped a non-conference borough clash on Tuesday evening, falling to the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute in straight sets by scores of 7-25, 7-25, and 10-25. The match took place at the Pratt ARC in Brooklyn, NY. With the defeat, the Cougars dipped to a mark of 0-6 on the 2024-2025 campaign, while the hosts improved to 5-6.

Kayshaun Higgs was the primary contributor for Medgar Evers, as he notched a kill and a service ace. In addition, newcomer Jose Janvier recorded a service ace.

Reid Brooks led all players on the evening with eight kills, and the standout also notched three service aces and a pair of digs. Jason Raymond and Max Wang tied for the match-high of 13 service aces, with both also recording perfect hitting percentages (Raymond 6-0-6, 1.000 and Wang 5-0-5, .1000). Raymond's four digs was also a match-best.

Pratt dominated in all facets, registering a hitting percentage of .484 while compiling 22 kills on the evening. The Cannoneers also earned 39 service aces, and trailed just briefly in the opening stages of the opening set before cruising the rest of the way.

The Cougars now begin a stretch of playing six consecutive matches at home, beginning tomorrow evening with a CUNYAC clash against the CCNY Beavers. Start-time at the Cougars Cave is scheduled for 6:30pm.
