Cougars begin six-match homestand with loss to CUNYAC foe CCNY in straight sets

The Medgar Evers College men's volleyball team lost a CUNYAC match on Thursday evening, falling to the Beavers of CCNY in straight sets by scores of 2-25, 7-25, and 14-25. The match took place at the Cougars Cave in Brooklyn, NY. With the defeat, the Cougars dipped to a mark of 0-7 on the 2024-2025 campaign (0-4 CUNYAC), while CCNY improved to 2-7 (1-1 CUNYAC).

Despite the loss for Cougars, Nkosi Fraser registered two service aces, with Kayshaun Higgs adding a kill.

The Beavers' Mahmoud Tayeh led all players with eight kills on eight swings. He also registered three service aces on the evening. Alex Abraham added seven kills on eight attacks, while contributing seven service aces as well. Finally, it was Alex Ma posting match-highs of 21 assists and 10 service aces.

CCNY dominated in all facets, registering a hitting percentage of .667 while compiling 24 kills on the evening. The Cannoneers also earned 32 service aces, dominating the opening two sets and never trailing in set three.

The Cougars will return to action on Tuesday evening, as Medgar Evers hosts John Jay in a CUNYAC match. Start-time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
