Medgar Evers led for most of the opening half, holding the lead for the final 16:38 of the session. The Lightning started the second half on a 19-6 run to pull ahead in the contest by a score of 42-34 with 9:10 remaining. Kai Parris, Camara, and Bagga scored four points apiece for the hosts during that aforementioned run. Medgar Evers refused to go quietly, as a converted bucket by Ryan Panagakos, and a triple by Evans Jr. pulled Lehman back to within three (42-39) with 7:20 to go.

Lehman later held an advantage of 48-43 with 5:16 to go before five consecutive points by Evans Jr. knotted the CUNYAC clash at 48 apiece. Mends then gave the Lightning the lead for good, 50-48, with a made jumper with 3:18 remaining. Lehman College connected on five of its seven free throw opportunities down the stretch while holding the Cougars to just two buckets the rest of the way. The Lightning went on to win the low-scoring conference clash by five points (58-53)
