Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Bulldogs sweep Cougars Tuesday evening in CUNYAC action at West Quad Gymnasium

The Cougars' men's volleyball team suffered a CUNYAC defeat last night, falling to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs at the West Quad Gymnasium by scores of 7-25, 6-25, and 5-25. With the loss, Medgar Evers slipped to a mark of 0-15 on the 2025 campaign (0-12 CUNYAC), while the Bulldogs improved to a record of 11-14 (7-4 CUNYAC).

Despite the defeat, four Cougars registered one kill apiece, including Kayshaun Higgs, Jose Janvier, Nkosi Fraser, and Chrisnel Nicolas. Higgs and Janvier also recorded one service ace each. Additionally, Malik Williams' three digs led all Cougars.

For Brooklyn College, Armand Kaloshi earned a perfect hitting percentage, registering five kills in as many attempts. He also contributed three service aces and a pair of digs, as well. Jiaian Flanders finalized his evening with five kills and two digs, and setter David Lema's 15 assists was a match-high. The Bulldogs piled 27 service aces on the evening, led by Aaron Siu's match-high seven.

The hosts scored six consecutive points in the opening set. Jason Lin recorded three service aces during that run, with Kevin Seise adding a pair of kills. Later in the set, with the hosts owning a 16-6 advantage, the Bulldogs notched seven consecutive points (courtesy of Armand Kaloshi's three service aces, three kills from Lin, and one kill from Dion Csikortos). After the Cougars halted that run with a point, Brooklyn solidified the set thanks to a kill by Ali Zandani, and a service ace by Lin.

Medgar Evers kept things close in the early stages of the second set. Trailing 5-2, the visitors scored consecutive points, with the latter of those points coming via a service ace by Janvier. Brooklyn, holding a 5-4 advantage at that juncture, dominated the remainder of set number two, outscoring the Cougars 20-2 the rest of the way to win it. Siu recorded seven aces during that aforementioned ferocious run by the hosts.

The Bulldogs would bring out a different lineup to close the game, going on two separate 8-0 runs to close out the final set in style 25-5.

Medgar Evers will play their final CUNYAC road match of the season this Thursday, as the Cougars travel to CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium in Harlem, NY to battle the Beavers. Start-time for the conference clash is scheduled for 7:00pm.
