The Cougars' men's volleyball team suffered a CUNYAC defeat last night, falling to the CCNY Beavers at the Nat Holman Gymnasium by scores of 11-25, 13-25, and 12-25. With the loss, Medgar Evers slipped to a mark of 0-16 on the 2025 campaign (0-13 CUNYAC), while the Beavers improved to a record of 4-17 (3-10 CUNYAC).

Despite the loss for the Cougars, Medgar Evers was paced by Chrisnel Nicolas, as he finished with a team-high four kills on the evening. Malik Williams contributed three kills, and Jose Janver finalized his evening with two kills, three assists, and a pair of digs. Nkosi Fraser's four assists led all Cougars, and Kimahli Reid's three digs was a team-high.

CCNY was paced by Linus Gabriel in its victory, as he posted a team-highs of 10 kills and six digs to go along with a pair of service aces. Brandon Green contributed nine kills, six service aces, and two digs on the evening, while Nana Boateng finalized his evening with seven kills and two digs. Kyrylo Vysotskyy's 27 assists was a match-high, and Amir Nabiyev's seven service aces led all players.

The Beavers raced out to an early 7-0 advantage in the opening set thanks to two Vysotskyy service aces, two kills by Boateng, and three errors by Medgar Evers. The Cougars responded by registering three of the next four points, a spurt that featured a kill by Janvier, to inch to within five (8-3), but a 6-0 run by the hosts pushed CCNY's commanding advantage to 11 points, 14-3.

Trailing 22-8 later in the set, Medgar Evers scored consecutive points, courtesy of a kill by Janvier, and an attack error by Boateng, to slice its deficit to 12 (22-10). The hosts would then finish off the set, capturing three of the next four points to take it, 25-10.

Medgar Evers snatched an early 2-1 advantage in the second set thanks to a kill by Nicolas, and an attack error by Boateng. CCNY then put together a 6-1 run, capped off by a kill from Linus, to snatch a 7-3 advantage.

Later in set two, with the Cougars down 16-9, CCNY rattled off five consecutive points to take a 12-point edge. Kills by Green and Linus, as well as a service ace by Nabiyev, highlighted that aforementioned run. Medgar Evers battled to stay afloat, notching four of the next five points to inch to within nine (22-13), but CCNY closed it out by scoring the final three points of the set thanks to kills by Green and Nabiyev, and a set-clinching service ace by Green.

The Beavers boasted a 4-2 advantage in the early stages of set number three before Medgar Evers scored consecutive points, the latter courtesy of a kill by Williams, to knot the set at four apiece. CCNY later led 9-6, before putting together a ferocious 10-1 run to take a 19-7 advantage. Green contributed three service aces and a pair of kills during that spurt, with Boateng adding two kills, and Linus adding a kill and two service aces.

Medgar Evers eventually found themselves with a 14-point deficit (23-9) before scoring three straight points, capped by a service ace by Fraser, to pull to within 11 (23-12), but an attack error by Fraser and a service ace by Nabiyev clinched the set victory, as well as a sweep, for the home school.
