The Bulldogs set the tone for the contest early, racing out to a 12-0 advantage just 3:39 into the contest. Jackson started the game-opening surge by burying a triple. Brooklyn's swarming full-court defense kept Medgar Evers off the scoreboard until Davis finally got the hosts on the board by swishing a long three-pointer. The Bulldogs led by as many as 16 in the first quarter (27-11), and took a 27-13 advantage into the second.

Holding a 36-21 advantage with 6:14 remaining in the half, Brooklyn finished the session with a 12-2 run to take a commanding 48-23 advantage into the locker room at halftime. Jackson led the way for the visitors during that aforementioned run with seven points.

The defending CUNYAC champs dominated the second half, especially defensive, outscoring Medgar Evers 16-6 in the third quarter, and 26-6 in the fourth. The Cougars managed just four field goals over the course of the final 20 minutes of action, including just one in the third quarter.

Both teams struggled shooting the basketball, shooting under 30 percent for the game. The victorious Bulldogs finalized their evening with a conversion rate of 29.6 percent (29-98), while Medgar Evers drained just 22.4 percent of its attempts (11-49).
