The Medgar Evers College women's volleyball team (0-21 overall, 0-7 CUNYAC) officially wrapped up its 2026 campaign Tuesday evening, falling to the Brooklyn College Bulldogs in straight sets, by scores of 3-25, 8-25, and 3-25, in a CUNY Athletic Conference match-up at LaGuardia Community College. The contest, which featured a special Senior Night celebration, saw the Cougars finish the season with a team-high seven kills.
Prior to the contest, the Medgar Evers Department of Athletics recognized five seniors for their contributions to the women's volleyball program. Raine Williams, Bryanna Merger, Sarah Vallon, Moutiatou Djibring and Maritza Argueta were each presented with commemorative posters in appreciation of their dedication and commitment to the program throughout their collegiate careers.
Once the match got underway, Brooklyn College (10-12 overall, 6-1 CUNYAC) took care of business with a solid combination of kills and service aces. With the triumph, the Bulldogs head into the upcoming CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Tournament with momentum.
Despite the outcome, Djibring and Shanya Aitcheson paced the Cougars offensively with two kills apiece, while Danajah Lawrence contributed another. Djibring also recorded two blocks, while Lawrence led the defensive effort with six digs. Kimora St. John added four digs and distributed two assists, matching Argueta's two assists.
Brooklyn College was led by Olive Carroll, who finished with eight kills, while Chloe Siena added seven kills and a match-high 13 points. Rose Kory orchestrated the Bulldogs' offense with 11 assists.
Although the result brought the Cougars' season to a close, Tuesday evening provided an opportunity to celebrate five student-athletes whose contributions to the program extended beyond the final score. Williams, Merger, Vallon, Djibring and Argueta were recognized for their years of dedication as they closed an important chapter in their collegiate athletic careers.
