Eli Waxman's 15 assists and five service aces were both match-bests, and Gabe Simon-Hakalir added a pair of kills and four service aces.

The opening set served as Yeshiva's most efficient set attacking, as the Maccabees earned a percentage of .321 (12-3-28) while recording seven aces. The visitors dominated the set, winning it 25-6.

Medgar Evers trailed 10-4 in the second set, before scoring seven of the next 12 points to pull to within four (15-11). Dalso added a pair of kills during that stretch, with Owolabi contributing one. The Maccabees would then rattle off seven consecutive points, highlighted by Narrowe's pair of kills, and Hakalir's four service aces. At that juncture of the set, Yeshiva led 22-11.

A kill by Nicolas, and an attack error by Alex Kirievsky, brought the Cougars to within nine (22-13), but the Maccabees finished off the set by notching three of the next four points to capture it, 25-14. Karpow's kill clinched the set triumph for Yeshiva, putting the Maccabees up 2-0 in sets.

Medgar Evers did not go down quietly, racing out to a 13-9 advantage in the third set. During that aforementioned start to the third, Owolabi and Nicolas registered a kill apiece, while Toure and Ahmed added a service ace apiece.

A service error by Toure, compiled with a service ace by Kirievsky, and a bad set by Owolabi, brought the visitors to within one (13-12), but the Cougars responded with consecutive points (the latter via Nicolas' service ace) to go up 15-12. The pendulum then swung towards the visitors, as Yeshiva notched three straight points, courtesy of two attack errors by Ahmed, and a service ace by Narrowe, to notch the set at 15-all.
