Willowbrook, Staten Island, NY- The Medgar Evers Women's Volleyball team lost to the College of Staten Island Dolphins 3-0 (14-25, 21-25, 20-25) on Tuesday Sept. 13, 2011. The Lady Cougars fell to 0-5, 0-3 CUNYAC, while the Dolphins improved to 2-4, 2-1 CUNYAC.
The Lady Cougars dropped the 1st set 25-14 and seemed just not loose as a team. The 2nd set was just as the 1st. Everytime the Lady Cougars had a chance to take the lead, an error would occur or a CSI kill and the pendulum would swing back in the Dolphins favor.
In the 3rd set, the Dolphins took a 6-5 lead until the Lady Cougars fought back and tied the score at 6 and leading by just 1 8-7 until the Dolphins won their serve. Dolphins would continue to lead until the score was 15-14. MEC tied the score on a Dolphins service error, and then the Lady Cougars took the lead 16-15. They would lead 18-17, until CSI won a point on a kill and never looked back winning the set 25-20.
