PRIVATEERS DOWN COUGARS 7-1

Throggs Neck, Bronx, NY- The Medgar Evers College Men's Soccer team lost to the SUNY Maritime Privateers 7-1 on Sunday Sept. 18, 2011. The Cougars fell to 0-8 while the Privateers improved to 5-2-1 Overall. 

SUNY Maritime struck first on the board, when they scored in the 4th minute off a rebound from a Cougars defender. Maritme would score 2 more times to lead 3-0 at the half. The Cougars were outscored 15-6 in the 1st half,. 

In the 2nd half, Maritime scored 4 more times, including a hat trick by Collin Taylor. The Cougars lone goal came in the 87th minute, when Freshman Defender Zeakiel Daley (2nd of the season). It was assisted from Borris Pendie

For the goal keepers, Cougars Christopher Welsh played a 90 minutes, giving up 7 goals while stopping 10 shots. Privateers keeper, John Dunne played 68 minutes, stopped 4 shots and Patrick Kelleher played 21 minutes and gave up a goal. 

The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday Sept. 21, 2011, when the play the Lehman College Lightning at Lehman College in the Bronx. Game time is set for 7pm.
